The completed dining room is somewhat cramped with the references to three memorable moments from the film. The fan, the “holiday party dummy”, and the mac-n-cheese combine to form a room that’s somewhat lost in time. The dining area on the right side of the first floor has a short set of stairs in front of an oddly open gap instead of windows.

The build is fun and engaging, with plenty of play features all too often bypassed by other “adult” LEGO offerings lately. Every nook and cranny of the set is crammed with movie references and Easter eggs, and the selection of five exclusive minifigures is spot-on. At $250 US for 3957 pieces, the cost-per-part ratio is a shockingly low 6 cents, almost unheard of for a licensed property. The unusual colors, broad range of shapes, and unique prints make this an excellent parts pack for those who aren’t into ultra-violent slapstick Christmas movies. This set is sure to be a popular pick for LEGO fans this holiday season, so if you’re temped you might want to grab one sooner rather than later.

I got on the email group and through that I met Bruce Heller. When he was building his Bridge House he needed people. Being a member of GayFOLS has allowed me to enjoy and share Lego with other people whose lives are political.

Climbing the staircase leads to the landing, where Kevin loudly proclaims his intention to live alone. Unlike the downstairs rooms, this area is sparsely furnished and features a small table with a candle and flower on top. This table integrates two click hinges, where the opening wall panels are effectively secured. Another window is situated on the back and features more realistic proportions, alongside the chimney which is strangely truncated. While the hinges to reach the attic are neatly integrated, some incongruous colours remain exposed.

The GayFOLs community on Facebook, AFOL community on Instagram, and TexLUG community in Austin have been spaces of great expression for me, and provide meaningful connection. I have to be open to trial and error, learning from failure and growing in the process. The same, too, with photography, which plays a role in my practice. Sharing my creations with others is vulnerable – another act of courage – but it’s through this vulnerability that we find connection with others. Some of my earliest childhood memories involve playing with LEGO; it definitely affected my decision to study engineering!

The set excludes the wings on each side entirely and this middle section really isn’t very accurate other than that it’s a dark brick house with similar window pattern. And yet its size and style don’t really fit into a row of modular buildings, a winter village, or other Lego scene. I don't know what I was expecting, but I find this slightly disappointing. Not that it is even the fault of the model's source material, but it may simply be the colors. The white roof limits the scene to just winter and the overall brown just makes it look dull- especially in the back.

I have seen AFOL groups on social media bring out hate in people. I don’t feel welcome or safe in these spaces even if it’s only online. One of the other defining experiences I had in the LEGO community occured this past September.

‘Shut up’ basement scene

Apparently you can’t express an opinion through a hobby? Yes, I see LEGO as a hobby, but I also see it as a craft and an art form. I feel strongly that you can use it to express yourself or a POV. And if anything I certainly intend to do that more now, not less.

This model accordingly includes one can, which can swing from the balustrade to dislodge minifigures climbing the staircase. In addition, Buzz's elusive tarantula is found on the neighbouring wall beside the attic staircase, where this creature plays an important role. Moving across the entrance hall, we reach the dining room. This space appears infrequently onscreen and its inclusion is slightly surprising, particularly since the kitchen could have been expanded. Nevertheless, the dark colour scheme compares favourably with the movie and the patterned rug beneath the dining table looks magnificent, comprising 2x2 triangular tiles.

The model includes numerous fun references to Home Alone and its sequel, balanced with authentic furnishings and several play features. Certain functions were perhaps superfluous and I think the Wet Bandits' van could be improved, although such issues are overshadowed by the numerous qualities of this enjoyable model. Several family portraits decorate the staircase, including Kate and Buzz McCallister along one side, with Kevin and Peter on the other.

A Day 1 purchase for me.My only complaints are Old Man Marley looks bland, and I would have loved to see Buzz and Peter minifigures included. I never really saw the movie as a classic or anything, but this house is really well done. I would like to have seen brick lights used to actually create the silhouttes on the windows shades. The lamp appears realistic too, while an elegant fireplace occupies the corner.

It’s fun to note that while all three bed builds all feature pulled back covers, each has a slightly different building style. The OH-KAY Plumbing & Heating truck is a reasonably faithful reproduction of the movie van, although it lacks any doors on the sides. The logos are sticker-based, which, as you can see, I can never quite align perfectly. The van has a removable roof rack with pipes, an opening rear door, and a bench-seat built for two. There’s also a removable box of golden loot (a trophy and a kitchen faucet) to add a bit of story value.

The desk lamp is a fun build with a black hot dog element serving for the neck. There’s also a gumball machine that I spotted in the background of the movie set, and a fold-out bed. In the film this had a more tacky 70’s plaid pattern, but I don’t object to the upgrade to a more glorious teal coloration.

It has the main people the plot centered around...IMO, it doesn't need any more of the supporting cast. I wouldn't have minded seeing the pizza delivery guy and his car, but I'll settle for the pizza boxes. Peter isn’t any more prominent in the movie than any other family member, with Buzz being the exception. But for the purposes of the house and what it’s depicting, I think the character selection is just right. 21330 Home Alone has proven outstanding, as anticipated.

A surprisingly nice and complete build overall, and so many great details! Great job by the set designers, they clearly knew their stuff. I don't like the number of stickers but I can understand why these aren't all prints (although, they could with the Caterham.....). But other than that I can't think of much to complain about.
